As we move in to the winter here in Dubai an ever growing number of annual design events are being announced for the coming months, so I thought I would put together a list of key dates for the diary:
Dubai Design Week
16th - 31st October
With the launch of Dubai's new Design District d3 comes the cities first annual Design Week, following on from the success of similar events in major international cities around the world.
This inaugural event will help cement Dubai's position as the region's hub for design and innovation as well as helping it to fulfil the cities ambitions of becoming a global design destination in the future.
The program for the week will include; six curated country pavilions from the MENASA region, a graduate showcase of the best emerging talent, installations by leading architects and designers and a link up with six international design weeks, to bring some of world best design brands to Dubai.
It will be interesting to see how the first year goes but no doubt the Design District d3 will put on a great show and I for one will be stopping by to check it out.

Downtown Design
27th October – 30th October
Downtown Design runs in partnership with this years Dubai Design Week for three days during the week, predominately as a trade fair for buyers and brands and design professionals. The show brings together furniture, lighting, kitchen, bathroom, accessories, textile new technology and accessory brand from around the world all under one roof.
This year for the first time the show will be held at the Dubai Design District - d3, relocating from it's original home on Emaar Boulevard, Downtown.
I'll be honest, I have registered for the event for the past two years running but I'm still yet to check it out. So this year, third time lucky, I will certainly be heading down for a look around.

Sole Dxb
20th – 21st November
Definitely one for the Hipsters of Dubai, Sol DXB is home to design, fashion, alternative culture and all things cool here in The Middle East. Back for it's fifth year the 'Sneaker summit' continues to grow, promoting brands, artists and designers and will once again be held the new Dubai Design District - d3.
Expect some great music, lots of very trendy people with beards, street artists, concept stores, trainer swapping and lots more urban initiatives. A great event, well worth checking out.

Art Dubai
16th – 19 March 2015
Celebrating it's tenth year Art Dubai has become the key event on Dubai's Art scene. The international art fair, one of, if not the largest in the Middle East, is held in March each year at the Madinat Jumeriah and showcases artworks from over 90 galleries form the UAE and around the world.
I have been for the past two years and have really enjoyed the mix of work on show. This is a great place to take in some of the best art on show in the region and gain some inspiration before the summer months set in. I would highly recommend a visit.
